SPC and WPC floors
Stone plastic composite (SPC) and wood-plastic composite (WPC) are two technologically advanced cores that offer the highest level of moisture protection. They will not peel or ripple no matter how much water this is or for how long it's there. While both offer the same water protection, the feeling underfoot is different; SPC is a little more durable and used in commercial and residential installations, with a firm, rigid feel underfoot. WPC has the warm, flexible feeling of resilient flooring.
Luxury vinyl plank
Not to be confused with SPC WPC, this is one form of the luxury vinyl flooring family, which also has waterproof capability.
LVP is cut into strips and mounted on boards to mimic hardwood and comes in various colors and finishes. It also is available with textured looks, such as wire-brushed, hand scraped, weathered, distressed, and embossed in register, the latter meaning that the textured surface exactly matches the wood-look image underneath, giving it an even more authentic look.
There are also micro bevels, a process whereby the corners are angled to give more depth and dimension; you can either get full, kissed, partial, or painted. It's available in hundreds of species, but oak, maple, walnut, and hickory stand out.
Luxury vinyl tile
This is a luxury vinyl form where the material is cut into tile-sized squares that can be used with or without grout. Concrete, geometric, hexagon, art deco, chevron, and herringbone patterns are trendy. Many also use LVT for stone looks, such as marble, slate, travertine, terrazzo, and limestone.
